[Chugalug] Minecraft Server Log-On Notification

Jonathan Calloway
All,
I built a Minecraft Server for my son.  It runs on Fedora 24 Server.  It has been running for over a year now (we’ve upgraded the OS, upgraded versions of Minecraft etc.).  Now he’s wanting to do a little bit of monitoring.  Specifically he wants to know when one of his friends has logged in to the Minecraft server.  He wants to either get an email or a text.

Now, the only thing I can think to do is somehow ‘scrape’ the log.  What to do from there, I don’t know.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

<JC>

Re: [Chugalug] Minecraft Server Log-On Notification

Michael Scholten

I once did this with a hosted Minecraft server. Wanted to know when certain players were on and thankfully the server had a list of active players on their site. I had a shell script run curl against the site and notify me any time it found a name from a list. Didn't use it very long but it was a fun project.
