[Chugalug] OT/FS: pfSense Boxen for sale!!!

Phil Sieg
Howdy everybody!

I am temporarily back in the firewall business with some very cool little boxen:

5 ports (1 x gigabit, 4 x 100 megabit)
1.6 ghz Atom processor
1 gb ram
Silent/passively cooled
4gb CF card with latest pfSense nano/BSB build
9”x8”x2”
10-12 watts power

Some of you have been around since the days when I was the source for silent/passive cooling m0n0wall & pfSense boxen.

These are by far the nicest boxes I have seen. Extremely nice and well built and run very cool.

I will be listing them on eBay soon for $200. I have 35 available so it will take 30-45 days to sell thru them.

$170 for Chugaluggers that need/want them.

Hey Phil,
How whiny would you consider me to be if I wanted all 5 ports to be 1 GB?

Hope you have a great day,
Dean Warren

Re: [Chugalug] OT/FS: pfSense Boxen for sale!!!

Phil Sieg
Dean,

I can do that for $200 per box, $400 total.

I will need to order the cards, so it might be a week or so before they get in and I could build the units.

Since I have to order the cards I would ask that you paypal me $100 as a deposit.

Let me know…

Re: [Chugalug] OT/FS: pfSense Boxen for sale!!!

Lynn Dixon
Man... having only one port as 1GB for that price is not very competitive.  There are tons of people selling the Qotom boxes on Amazon right now for about $200 that have 4 true Intel GB NICs.  They are also the Intel J1900 processors which are pretty damn fast.  I have one running at my house right now.   Not much bigger than a pack of playing cards, totally fanless.

Here is a "barebones" model that doesnt have RAM or SSD, but those are really cheap since its mSATA and and DDR3 SODIMM for about $160 bucks:  http://amzn.to/2ih52cY

I have been able to get my little Qotom J1900 to route packets across its wan at about 890 Mbps fully saturated bi directional and the CPU barely hits 80%.

Lets also remember that these J1900's are actually Intel Quad core processors at 2.0 GHz.

I wish you luck Phil, but those boxen don't seem very competitive with what most people are running pfSense on when it comes to fanless with full gigabit on all NIC's.

My little J1900 runs about 14 watts when its being fully saturated, and idles around 8-10 watts.

Re: [Chugalug] OT/FS: pfSense Boxen for sale!!!

Phil Sieg
Lynn,

Didn’t know these existed. Nice Boxen.  Looks like built out it would be $50-100 more than my offering, but truly a nicer box.

Thankfully my price will fly on eBay, since just like me a lot of people do not know about these little direct from China boxen you pointed out.

Wait, I just realized that this is probably exactly the router that
I've been wanting. I mean, it's more router than I need because my
outside link is slow, but I think it's time to get over myself and
replace the gawdawful Netgear I've got with something like this.

Count me in.

Hey Dean,

How are your pfsense boxen doing?

Specifically are the gigabit cards working fine. I am thinking of making a mass purchase of these nics to bring the price down and you are the only person that I have sold them to. I am using the same box as you at home and at work, but mine have quad 10/100 (and are rock solid so far…)

Thanks again for supporting my odd habit of firewall building.

Man... having only one port as 1GB for that price is not very competitive.

I will need to order the cards, so it might be a week or so before they get in and I could build the units.

Since I have to order the cards I would ask that you paypal me $100 as a deposit.

4gb CF card with latest pfSense nano/BSB build
9”x8”x2”

Some of you have been around since the days when I was the source for silent/passive cooling m0n0wall & pfSense boxen.

These are by far the nicest boxes I have seen. Extremely nice and well built and run very cool.

I will be listing them on eBay soon for $200. I have 35 available so it will take 30-45 days to sell thru them.

$170 for Chugaluggers that need/want them.

Ah hail Pfsense. Should start pushing them with Open VPN and a Tor exit node as standard.
